January 2006 at the Notso Hostel
|
Happy New Year! I hope everyone has begun their new years with a bang, and at least for
these past few weeks that things are going smoothly. Charleston always
slows down a little bit this time of year and that’s why I think
it’s so great. We’ve been having some amazing weather (Last
week in was in the 60s and 70s) making it incredibly hard to believe it’s
January. The students are back from Christmas break and everyone is recovering
from the holiday malay. We at the hostel are working on our own New Year’s
resolutions. Justin’s is moderation in everything and to stop being
nice to people that don’t deserve it so watch out. Ray’s is
a secret, Mike has decided to become more organic or organtic, which ever
is easier. I’ve decided this year I’m going to be more a Diva
(as if I have far to go). Be prepared for hoop earrings and a sassy attitude.
We are also going to be working on our hostel, making some major overhaul
improvements to make it even bigger, better, cleaner, and faster. (well
maybe not faster, but you get it). In the city, the Laura Griffin Run/Walk
in Historic Charleston is Jan 14th at 8:00 in the morning, for all you
early risers. The Charleston Comedy festival is coming January 18-21 and
you can check out the details at www.charlestoncomedyfestival.com.
Also, the Martin Luther King Parade, always a thrill in the south is on
January 16th ,of course, downtown. There is some good music coming through
and if nothing else you can always join the spontaneous knitting circles
that tend to crop up in our living room on nights too cold to go anywhere.
Also, don’t forget! Book now for the Spoleto Festival! We fill up
fast! For more information go to www.spoletousa.org.
See you soon!
